the wall

When you walk into our restaurant you’ll notice a tattoo wall created by one of Casper’s most renowned tattoo artist, Peanut.  This wall stands as tribute to the childs’ family’s originality, collectively.  Among all the designs you’ll notice one in particular- the “drowning man.” This piece beautifully symbolizes the journey of recovery, an integral chapter in La Cocina's story. The "Drowning Man" holds a special significance, as it graces the arm of jim, the owner. This tattoo is more than ink on skin; it represents the profound liberation from the shackles of addiction, both in the physical and spiritual sense. It serves as a visual ode to the triumph of the human spirit over adversity, a testament to the resilience that lies within us all. The "Drowning Man" stands as a poignant reminder that from struggle emerges strength, and from challenge emerges triumph—a narrative that resonates deeply within the essence of La Cocina.

"I became comfortable in my own skin through sobriety and only started worrying about being better than i was yesterday, and doing that made me present in today and excited for tomorrow.  it helped me take care of my table, my heart, and my business." - Jim
